What I've been up to.
Hi -
So, after Girl Scout day camp, I spent a couple weeks not doing much. I went to the pool a lot. I also started working on my summer work for the math class I'm taking in the fall. It is a pain trying to do that, but I'm almost done - I only have 5 problems and 18 graphs to do which I didn't know how to do at the time. I should be able to get it done easily. I also have to read a book for school, but I've been reading all summer and the book isn't that long so it shouldn't be too bad.
Last week I went to visit my dad's relatives that live near Charleston, SC. We left last Monday morning and spent most of the day traveling. We got there at about 4 PM and spent the rest of the day playing with their new puppy and eating dinner. The next morning we got up, and since my mom and I are catholic and it was a catholic holy day, we went to church out on Sullivan's Island which is only about 15 minutes from their house. That afternoon everyone went to the beach and then we went to get shrimp for dinner. Wednesday morning we got up and my dad's uncle, my mom, and I went to Boone Hall plantation. My dad's uncle volunteers on the Yorktown, which is in the Charleston Harbor, so he could get himself and someone else in for free. That afternoon my Mom, Dad, and I went to the beach after my dad's aunt, my mom, and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Oh, and we also went to the farm store of the plantation we went to that morning, and got some excellent fudge. Thursday morning we got up, and my mom, dad, and I went to Charleston to see the battery/Rainbow Row. We also went to the market, but my mom didn't get anything because she said the sweet-grass baskets were too expensive. The other stuff there didn't look all that great. That afternoon we went to some yard sculpture stores and then to the beach. One of my dad's cousins came to dinner - we had fried turkey.
Friday morning we left at a reasonable time to go to Chapel Hill, NC to visit another of my dad's aunts and uncles. We had an interesting time trying to get there, what with I-95 being shut down for 11 miles (in between exits). We got a scenic tour of the area around Florence. To make sure that we were still going the right way we watched for truckers - they have radios so know the scoop about roads! We got back on to I-95 and continued on our way. We stayed overnight in Chapel Hill, and then in the morning took a driving tour of UNC and Duke. It was moving in day at UNC, so we didn't get as good a tour as my dad's aunt had hoped. We left there in the mid afternoon. I-95 was backed up around DC so we didn't get home until about 9:30 PM or so.
This past week I have just been working on my summer assingnments and vegging. Tomorrow I have an appointment to see one of the couple of doctors I see on a regular basis. I am not looking foreward to it - I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
Oh, well, I'd better go help my mom get ready for dinner (set the table, etc).
Bye,
BCR
