I've had a really boring week...

Hi -

Monday: nothing much happened. I went to school and CCD as usual.
Tuesday: yet another boring day
Wednesday: nothing much happened that day either
Thursday: I stayed after in Algebra to ask my teacher questions/work on my homework for that class.
Today: I had a History Club meeting after school. I didn't have a lot of homework today, so I was able to get an individual reading-IR- (assignment for English where we have to read a book and write responses to sections of it) journal entry done today. Yay! It's looking better for me to finish on time. That assignment ususally gets last priority, so I was really glad that I had time to work on it. I'm all caught up on my homework (I got off of doing homework on the day it was assigned, and not the day later (but before the next class) ). I am really glad about all of that.

Tomorrow I have my SAT prep class and a WorkCamp reunion. I want to get another IR entry done tomorrow so that I don't have to worry so much about the assignment.

I've been really busy

Hello -

This past week I was really busy with school work. I also had to stay after Tuesday for a choir rehearsal, Wednesday to go over an Algebra II quiz, and Thursday for an NHS meeting.

Friday, I came home from school and did my homework. My family went out to dinner that evening.

Saturday I went to my SAT prep class as usual. I then came home, had lunch, and did my Spanish homework. I then went on errands with my dad. We came home, and my parents went to a birthday cocktail party for someone they know.

This morning I got up and went to church. I sang with the choir. After church my mom and I went to get lunch, and then we had to go meet my dad at a car dealership. He is finally getting a new car - Infiniti G35 coupe. When I asked him why he finally decided to get a car for real (he has been in the market and has gone through phases for about a year and a half now) he said that he was ready. We all thought he was ready when he started to look for a car. I personally think that part of the problem was that the G35 didn't come with a manual transmission at that point.

After my mom had finished signing all of the papers, she and I had to hurry home so we could change our clothes and get to a Girl Scout meeting. The meeting mostly consisted of chatting time, but I didn't care since I haven't seen those people for a while (our troop wasn't very active last spring). We then came home and went to Wendy's for dinner. We got home at about 7. I just remembered that I hadn't updated my blog in a week, so I decided to do so. I think I am going to go watch Designed to Sell or something like that.

I hate busy weekends!!!!!

Hello -

So, yesterday was a very busy day. I had to get up at 8:00 yesterday morning to go to Tag Day for my choir. I hate going around and begging for money. However, this year I got a good location (close to the school) so people know about the music department and what it does even if they don't have school age children. I then had to go from there to my SAT prep class. Since my mom was driving, my dad had to come pick me up. He got confused with my mom's directions, so I barely got to my class on time. When my class was done I came home, had lunch, and finished my Algebra II homework. I then had to go over my summer review test with my dad (I failed it). Next thing I knew, it was dinnertime.

This morning I had to serve at church. It was very confusing. For starters, the priest didn't show up until the time mass was supposed to start (he got in traffic). He uses a bigger version of the sacramentary (book with prayers, basically). During the gloria he was making sure that the markers were in the right place, but never motioned for one of us servers to come and hold the book for him. Then, after communion he didn't clear the altar, went and sat down, but didn't motion to us to clear the altar off. We were all asking each other "Are we supposed to clear the altar off?" Finally the person that does the training came over and told us. It was just kind of weird. This afternoon my mom and I went to a girl scout Gold Award workshop. We had to go all the way to DC. We came home and went to Popeye's for dinner.

That was basically my weekend.

This week has been very busy...

Hello -

I'm sorry that I haven't updated since Monday. This week has been very hectic because I had actual homework. I guess I will just start where I left off and see if I can remember everything.

Monday evening, I went to CCD. I am one of four upperclassmen (3 juniors, 1 senior). Ironically, all of us juniors are on the same bus!

In History Tuesday morning we took notes. Then we were put into groups to do a map/culture activity for the early Americas. My group had the Incan culture. In Web Development we did an activity on good websites/bad websites. In Spanish that day we got our books and reviewed for our quiz that we had yesterday. In Algebra II we did notes/an activity on scatter plots and line of best fit.

In Physics on Wednesday we did a review of what we had learned last class. We then started on an activity using a computer program called Graphical Analysis. In Learning Seminar that day we watched an SGA video (basically introducing our officers and talking about SGA events). In English we did a walk-about (write whatever we think of under a category in 1 min.) and then read from a book and took notes. In choir that day we warmed up and then it took the rest of the class period to do uniform fittings for us 15 girls. After school I had an orthodontist appointment. They put on two more brackets. One of them irritated my mouth so has been driving me crazy. I also was started on triangles (rubber bands attached to the brackets in the shape of a triangle). Wednesday afternoon they were driving me berserk.

Yesterday in History we did our presentations and then took notes. In Web Development we learned the basics to HTML and did a little practice using HTML Kit (a computer program). In Spanish we did some final review for our quiz and then took our quiz. I thought it wasn't a piece of cake, but on the other hand it wasn't too tough. In Algebra we got back our summer packet tests and a graded review (both of which I failed) so I now have an F in Algebra on the second week of school. Part of that is because my teacher took off 1 point (all of the question) for not writing intercepts as a point (I wrote them as x-int= or y-int=). It makes more sense to me to not write it as a point because it is common knowledge that if something intercepts a line, the opposite variable is O. I came home and my mom proceeded to take up over half of my homework time trying to go over what I didn't know with me, instead of just letting my dad (math major-knows what he is doing) help me. I only got my Spanish homework done. When my dad got home and had dinner, he said he was going to go over factoring with me. I told him I had to take a shower. When I was done, it was 8pm, an hour before I go to bed on school nights. My dad then proceeded to take 55 minutes of the 60 to go over factoring. I was really annoyed because a lot of the stuff he said I already knew.

This morning I got up at the regular time for school to catch my bus, and then went to the library. There I worked on my independent reading assignment for English (I have to read and then write a response). This morning in Physics we reviewed and then finished our Graphical Analysis activity. Today during both learning seminars we had a class meeting. In English we had a summer reading short answer test, which I barely got finished in the time allotted (the class period). In choir we got a new piece of music and then worked on it and our other two pieces. This afternoon I had a History Club officer's meeting and then I went home. I was able to get most of my homework done, but I still have a good bit of Algebra homework left to do.

Tomorrow I have Tag Day and my SAT prep class. I then get to go home and spend the rest of the afternoon on Algebra. Woo-hoo! (not).

My first weekend of school

Hi -

Well, I am so sorry I haven't updated for a few days. I simply forgot. A lot has gone on since then, though.

On Friday morning I got up at my usual godawful time of 5:45 AM to catch the bus. However, becuase of teacher collaboration, I had to go to the library until 7:50 to wait for classes to start at 8. That stunk.

In History that morning we did a warmump and then went to get our textbooks. Wen we got back to our classroom, we did a map activity. We basically had to label and shade the map. In Web Development we did web scavenger hunt type activities (history of the www, vocab, and careers). In Spanish we talked about verb conjugation, and a couple of things I don't remember. In Algebra II Honors we took a test on the stuff that was in our summer packet. I think I did pretty well on that, but I was rushed so we never know.

Friday afternoon I got home, had a snack, and did my homework. My family went out to Chick-Fil-A to eat. While we were eating it started to pour, and I mean POUR. We had an after dinner conversation, and then became brave enough to leave. Saturday morning I got up and had breakfast, and then I took a shower and got dressed. I then had to go to an SAT prep class at 11:30. I got home at 1:40 or so. I had lunch. I didn't do much that afternoon except mope about my vocabulary. Saturday evening we went out for Chinese. Sunday morning I got up, got dressed, and the went to church. At the 9:00 mass I had to serve, and then at the 10:30 mass I sang in the choir. So you could say I had a busy morning. There was a different priest at the second mass, or else I would have just read instead of go to a second mass (nothing is more boring than hearing a priest's homily twice in a row). We got home after church and had lunch. Sunday afternoon I did my prep class homework, among other things.

This morning, Physics was very boring. My teacher went over what she had already gone over, and spent most of the class doing it. She then said "Oh, my, where has the time gone?" when there were only ten minutes left of class. We then frantically took notes. In the first learning seminar we did the boring yearly Student Rights & Responsibilities review/test. In the second learning seminar we watched a 9/11 video. In English we first had a notebook check (for 50 points - so stupid) and then my teacher gave us a handout on common writing mistakes. We then had to write a letter to her including all of the things she asked for on another handout she gave us. In choir we went over our music. I got home, had a snack, and did my homework. I didn't have very much today - just typing the letter (because I wanted to) and figuring out the steps to the scientific method (so stupid - not even homework really).

I am now going to read because I want to finish my book asap. I have to go to CCD tonight.

My first few days of school...

Hello -

Well, I said I would update yesterday, but I never got around to it because of going to Staples to get school supplies. I am going to post all that stuff today.

Tuesday:
Pd 1: Physics
We did the boring syllabus stuff, and then started on a lab of sorts, doing various physics activities.

Pd 3: Flex Period
I stayed in 1st and then went to 2nd period. In both of those classes there was a first day video, first a message from the principal, and second a very boring message about the new schedule this year, which I already know (what would have been helpful is times!!). However, my first period teacher's TV wasn't working so we had to go across the hall.

Pd 5: English
We did the boring syllabus stuff, basically, and then somehow my class started talking about college football (my teacher is a college football fanatic).

Pd 7: Choir
We basically just went through the handbook and got our forms. We also got our first piece of music but didn't get to work on it at all.

Wednesday:
Pd 2: History
We did the boring syllabus stuff, and then my teacher asked us questions about history to see what we knew. One of the questions was "What were the years in which the civil war was fought?" One kid said the 1790s - I almost laughed out loud. When I asked one of my friends at lunch later that day, he said the 1860s, so at least he was in the right decade! The other person wasn't even in the right century!!!

Pd 4: Web Page Development
We did the boring syllabus stuff, and then a getting to know you game. However, the game wasn't very effective because we just went around switching papers without actually saying anything to the people. Oh, by the way, that class is mostly guys, which stinks because of the girls in there I don't know any.

Pd 6: Spanish III
We started off class with stating we were present (in Spanish) and then saying a sentence from a picture on the overhead screen. We then got in groups with the people we were sitting around to brainstorm words in a category, and then write 5 sentences using those words. After lunch my teacher rushed through the syllabus stuff. That was the only class in which I had real homework on the first day of school.

Pd 8: Honors Algebra II
We did the basic boring syllabus stuff, and then went over our summer packet. Our homework was to study for the test we have tomorrow on the summer packet. I don't know how I'll do on that - I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Today (Thursday):
Pd 1: Physics
My teacher talked about physics, and then collected our forms. We then spent the rest of the class period finishing up what we started on Tuesday and then talking about it.

Pd 7: Choir
We turned in our forms, and then got another piece of music for our District Choir auditions. We then worked on the song that we got Tuesday.

Pd 5: English
We first went and got our school pics taken. I don't know how mine will turn out, but I hope they are good. When we got back to the classroom, my teacher collected our syllabus form. We then played an icebreaker game/contest. My teacher asked us questions, and then in our groups of 6 we counted up how many siblings, etc. the group had collectively. There were 10 questions.

Pd 3: Flex Period
I first went to 4th period, and then was dismissed to a pep rally. I didn't want to go, but had to because I wouldn't have had any time to plan to go to the library or go home. It wasn't even a football/band pep rally, more of a class pep rally. Even though I am a junior, I have never gone to a pep rally before becuase I knew they were going to be loud, and I am uncomfortable in those situations.

In case you noticed and were confused (like me) the school switched 7th and 3rd periods today so that the pep rally could be at the end of the day. Sorry about droning on. Wish me luck on my test tomorrow!

Back to the grind

Hi -

Well, today was my first day of school as a junior. I will update tomorrow after I have gone to all my classes, so that I only have to post all my boring stuff about school once.

I did not want to get up at 5:45 this morning when my alarm went off, even though I had gotten up at 6:30 the day before! It was dark, so my brain thought that I should be sleeping when it's dark.

I had a nice Labor Day. I got things ready for school, and cleaned up because my grandparents and uncle came for dinner.

That's all I'm going to say for now.

What a boring day

Hiya -

Well, Friday when my family went out to eat (we always do on Fridays) it was POURING. On our way home we stopped at a grocery store to get stuff for pancakes and bacon for lunch yesterday. My mom must have forgotten about Staples because we haven't gone yet.

Yesterday morning I woke up early (in preparation for school) and watched the Today Show until it was over, then in a little while I went upstairs to get dressed, etc. I read, and then it was time to get the pancake mix together. My mom's choir was singing at a wedding so she didn't have lunch with my dad and I. My dad cooked the pancakes and bacon and we had lunch. After that we did the dishes and cleaned up our kitchen while listening to the Rolling Stones. I haven't been doing much this afternoon. My dad took a nap while waiting for something to finish. He never really got finished yesterday. We had steaks and potatoes for dinner. Yesterday evening I didn't do much.

This morning I got up and went to church, where I was an altar server (subbing for someone else). I came home, changed my clothes, and my family had lunch. This afternoon I have been reading and not doing much else. I decided to come surf the net. My dad has been working on my computer (he had to rebuild the hard drive).

I think my family is going to go out for dinner tonight. Tomorrow night my grandparents are coming for dinner (we are having hamburgers).

That's about it. Sorry if my sentences are too short.

My days are numbered

I only have three more days of freedom before school starts.

Oh, I forgot to tell you when I was in my ugh mood about the fact that I went shoe shopping with my mom as well, but since my feet are wide in the front but I have narrow heels I didn't find one pair of shoes that would fit me.

On to the news of the day.

Because of Ernesto, it has really been raining where I live - to the extent that the place in my kitchen ceiling that only leaks when it rains a certain way leaked. Now I have to remember to step over bins when I go in and out of my house.

My mom and I went to two other fabric stores today. At the first one we went to we got a skirt pattern and some floral patterened corduroy. At the second fabric store we found some fabric for my dress! Yay!

We're back home now but are probably going to go to Staples to get my basic school supplies.
