This has been a busy/dramatic 10 days...

Hi everyone -

So, last weekend was rather interesting. My relatives came on Thursday. We had a nice dinner (bbq meatloaf), and then my cousin came to my house for the night (and all three they were there). Friday morning we got up as usual. Leaving my cousin and I at home, my mom went out to pick up some things for dinner that evening, and as she was driving along and minding her own business some lady turned left in front of her from a side street so it was almost head on. She was/is just fine. Friday evening everyone came up to see us, and we had pork chops. Saturday we went on some errands/shopping to find a picture frame for pictures we had developed for Aunt Louise. That evening we had hot dogs on the grill at the Kerr residence. Sunday we all went to church (I served) and then out to lunch. Everyone then went their separate ways.

We now know officially that there was too much damage to repair the car. My mom is REALLY sad. She loved that car, and they don't make any like that (same model doesn't come with a manual transmission, has differences in the body). That is making her really mad.

This afternoon was very busy in terms of appointments. At three we left early for my orthodontist appointment to pick up some papers at the insurance office. We then just barely got to my orthodontist appointment. That ran long, so then we just barely made it to my hair appointment. I went to my mom's hair stylist because I got long layers. Besides, my senior picture is tomorrow and I wanted to fix the bad cut I got last time I went to Hair Cuttery.

Tomorrow is my senior picture. My appointment is at noon (I'm not too happy about that, but it is a second time 'cause I couldn't make the first). Tomorrow morning I have to get ready for it. I'm not looking foreward to that because I have to paint my nails, etc. etc.

Oh, well, I'll stop rambling...

Camp

Hi everyone!

So, I know I haven't updated in about two and a half weeks. The reason is because I have been very busy with day camps.

July 9 - 13 I volunteered at Camp Funshine, which is an outreach camp, to gain Silver Trefoil hours. I worked at the Girl Scout Program center with the other Camp Crossroads teen staff person I was with last year. We were given a program to do with the kindergarteners through the third graders. We had a terrible time with those groups because the activities were either too advanced for the youngest of the group or too juvenile for the oldest of the group. The fourth, fifth, and sixth graders were doing a different program. It was fine for them. The two programs would have worked just fine if we had been able to switch the levels (brownie-age do the brownie version of what the junior-age was doing, junior-age do the junior version of what the brownie-age was doing).

July 16 - 20 I volunteered for the last time as teen staff at Camp Crossroads. I had a much better time at Camp Crossroads than at Camp Funshine. The adult leaders planned the activities and did all of the introductions/talking. We just had to help.

Next week will bring a lot of preparations for our visitors next week. I will also read a lot so that I can finish Silent Spring and start on HP # 7 before Cati (my 2nd cousin and HP fanatic) comes and wants to discuss it with me.

That's it for now...

boring life has returned...

Hi everyone!

I'll try to remember to update twice a week or so. The reason that I didn't update sooner is because I haven't really done much. Here is what I have done:
  • reading
  • lots of TV watching
  • internet surfing
  • time planning for the center I have to run at the day camp next week
  • going to the pool

We tried to go to our pool yesterday because I hadn't been in a while. We didn't realize that there was going to be a home swim meet that afternoon, so we went at about 4pm. Well, the pool was closing at 4:30 that afternoon. So, we decided to go to the Greenbriar pool and not Poplar Tree (both pools that are in an agreement together with my pool that the members can go there if their pool is closed). We will never go there again. Two reasons are:

  1. The pool is very small
  2. There is no lap lane (a necessity for my mom). The reason is because their laps go across the pool into the deep end and they have boards that are always open.

Tomorrow my family is going to my grandparents' house to experiment with new window treatments and have a 4th of July picnic.

I don't have anything else to report, so I'll say bye for now.
