My Christmas

I had a good Christmas. On Christmas Eve I went to church in the morning. I served. I was supposed to be the only server, but then one of my friends from Work Camp and her sister showed up and helped me. When my mom and I got home we had lunch and then prepared for the Christmas Eve dinner (bbq from Famous Dave's) by cleaning. My granparents and uncle came in the mid-afternoon, and then we had cocktails and dinner. My mom had to leave the festivities early because she is in the choir that had the 10 pm midnight mass.

Christmas morning I went to church. I served again, but this time there were two other scheduled servers, who both showed up. They were both high schoolers. One of them goes to Chantilly. People that go to Chantilly but go to St. Thomas a Becket are few and far between. It is always interesting when I come across those few people. Anyway, after church we had lunch and then my mom had to wrap two final presents. We then went to my grandparents' house. We were there well in advance of my uncle. Once my uncle arrived we opened presents. I brought all of my presents from Santa (that's what I call my mom - I don't still believe that Santa is an actual person). I got an iPod and docking station/speakers, a brown (fall) Fossil purse, and a bunch of clothes and jewelry.

Yesterday my dad started to set up my iPod docking station. He was running the vaccum cleaner and I was going to download the iTunes software when a bunch of the outlets in my room stopped working. My dad had to stop what he was doing and test out all of the outlets. We even had to move my desk, which was a pain because of all the stuff I have on it. Then, my mom just happened to be in the room that shares a wall with my room. She thought that perhaps the problem was in that room. Lo and behold, when she put in my nightlight to test the outlet, the lamp in the next outlet over turned on. So, my dad figured out which outlet it was, but there was one small problem. The main room light was on the same circuit as those outlets so he couldn't do anything because it was after dark. I put some music on my iPod.

Today we did some more cleaning, and my dad fixed the electrical problem. My mom made the lasagne that we are going to have tomorrow night. I figured out my iTunes account and bought a couple songs that I knew I didn't have on CD.

Tomorrow I have to bake cookies, change my bed, and blow up/put bedding on two air mattresses. I have to do all this because my other set of granparents and my aunt/uncle (dad's sister and brother-in-law) and cousin are coming tomorrow so there will be more people than beds. That has never happened before in this house! My grandparents on my mom's side are coming to dinner, as well as my uncle (my mom's brother). It will be very weird to have both sets of grandparents under my roof at the same time. I am excited to see my cousin - she is 6 years old.

I guess that's it.

Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays...

...cause that's where I'll be most of the time. My family always spends Christmas Eve at our house and my grandparents and uncle come for dinner. Christmas day my family goes to church, and then we go home, have lunch, and go to my granparents' house (they only live about an hour away). Then on Thursday my grandparents on my dad's side of the family are coming to stay overnight on their way to their winter home in Florida, and my aunt/uncle and cousin on my dad's side are coming for that night and another. I am then going to go on New Year's Eve to my grandparents' house to spend the night and ring in the new year.

Since I last updated (which was a while ago - sorry!), the Holiday Spectacathon (Holiday Spectacular, really) week has come and gone. That is a week of two really long rehearsals, then performances all day Wednesday, and an evening performance Thursday and Friday nights. I always hate yet enjoy that week. The only reason I enjoy that week is because I like the music.

The next week went by really quickly (probably because I didn't spend almost all of my waking moments at school :) ). Then this week took a really looong time to go by, probably because I am looking foreward to this week. Christmas break is finally here, and I am SOOO glad because I could use a week off of school . I a test and quiz Monday, a paper due Tuesday for English, a quiz on Wednesday, and two tests today (the last two periods of the day :( ).

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

It's me again

Hi -

I'm going to try to update at least once a week so that i don't get too far behind.

This past Saturday, I went to a concert of 1920's piano pieces. I went partially because I wanted to but also because I have to do a concert review this quarter for choir. My mom and I went with my grandparents. I had a good time - it was fun and I got an assignment done for school (I still have to type what I wrote down at the concert, though :) ).

Sunday morning at church I sang with the choir. We had our first Handel piece of the season, and my first Handel piece ever. I had practiced it before, so it wasn't too bad. Besides, it was easy. That afternoon I didn't do much.

This week I had to stay after every day except for Monday and today - uuuggh! Tuesday was for Mass Choir rehearsal, Wednesday was for help with Algebra (if you haven't caught on, I stay after for that class every week), and Thursday was for a History Club meeting.

This week has been okay in terms of school work, but I have had a lot of studying.

Next week is the dreaded Holiday Spectacathon (Holiday Spectacular concerts). I am not looking foreward to next week, especially because I have three tests (surprisingly, two are in History - the other is in Algebra). Because I am missing Wednesday for Tiny Tots concerts, I have to stay after that day to make up the Algebra test I am missing. Boy, do I hate the Holiday Spectacular week.

I am very glad it is the weekend. I am tired and worn out. It doesn't help matters that last week was a two-and-a-half day week and this week was a full one!

Oh well, I guess I'll shut up for now.
