never mind...

scratch that thought...

I took the rest of the pictures, and when I went to upload them to the camera software on my parents' new computer, I couldn't. My dad hasn't put the necessary driver on yet. When I tried to do that, the computer hung. I'll talk to him about it tonight. So, we'll see.

Back to Gilmore Girls...

Birthdays and boredom

Hello everyone -

So, I'm going to try to stick to only a couple of topics. I think that's why I don't get on as often (because I try to summarize rather than talk about only a few things).

Today is day 6 of my 6 day vacation. Of course, remember that it was a combination of Wed/Thurs/Fri snow days and the three day President's Day weekend. Normally I wouldn't be ready to go back to school, but I've had a nice long break so I am ready.

Yesterday was my birthday celebration. I had to help clean up, and then go to cross pin making for an hour. It really broke up preparation for dinner. All I did was cut ribbon (with the help of three other people). We got home at about 5:30 and had to hurry to prep potatoes for roasting. For dinner we had steak, roasted potatoes, green beans, rolls, and, of course, cake. The cake was an experiment, which I don't think will be baked again. It was rather odd, not very cake like.

I will talk about my presents in a post later today. I decided to take pictures of them and post them here for you to observe, but the camera my dad bought a few years ago drains its power when it sits for a while (which it has). I had to plug it in so that it could recharge before I finished all of the picture-taking that I wanted to do.

Talk to you later...

I'm 17 now!

Hello everyone -

Yes, my birthday was Tuesday so I am now 17. I opened one of my presents from my parents on my birthday, and the rest I will open at my family birthday party on Sunday. I also opened my present from my aunt and uncle on my dad's side. So far I have received a skirt with a matching top, and from my aunt and uncle a purse/daybag from LLBean. It shall be interesting to see what else I will get.

My area got a whole lot of snow so we had an early release on my birthday, and have been out ever since. We could have gone today, but no! We now have to go to school on the teacher workday before spring break. We still get the President's Day holiday, so we will have a 6-day weekend. Don't think that it is all fun and games to be off, because in reality it is very boring.

There was supposed to be a meeting of sorts on my birthday for WorkCamp, but the snow canceled it, so it was rescheduled for Sunday at 4 pm. Not so great 'cause we have company coming. But no! I have to go for an hour, which really means two hours because of travel time. It also means that my grandparents won't be able to come until later because I won't be there (well, they could but it would be rather boring). Mom answered the phone, but didn't want to say that it started at 4 pm (which both my dad and I would have done).

Oh well, I'll stop complaining and read or something.

This week...

Hello -

Well, a lot has happened since I last updated.

Monday Mr. Tumulty (my CCD teacher) was not able to come - he is a journalist and had to work late that evening - so the aide was stuck talking about 'Family and Society'. That was basically all about the Catholic Church's teachings on various family matters that are all okay in society but not necesarily in the Church.

Tuesday was sort-of a lackluster day. It was an A-day, so what can you expect.

Tuesday evening it snowed, so yesterday was a snow day! It was so nice to not have to get up so early yesterday morning (well, I had to get up but then I could go back to sleep). I didn't really do much. I did some studying and Algebra homework, in addition to surfing the net.

Today was an A-day again. In Physics we reviewed for the big test that we have on Monday. In English we took a quiz, then did an activity with Walden by Henry Thoreau (read a passage - how it relates to transcendentalism). We then got our next big assignment. We have to write an essay in class on Wednesday, but we are allowed to do our planning and write three of the paragraphs outside of school (in fact, we have to).

Tomorrow is the Curriculum fair, after 30 minutes of 2nd period. I am going to investigate the sciences, as well as Programming and AP Computer Science. We get out early at 11 AM. That afternoon I have an appointment to take a tour of George Mason University. It's only about 20 - 30 minutes from my house.

Because there technically aren't any classes tomorrow, all I have to do is study for my Physics test and work on my transcendentalism essay. I am also going to try to finish up the PowerPoint for my Spirit Alive activity, as well as do a little History Club housekeeping (I am doing the minutes because the secretary was absent).

Well, that's about it for now...

Today was a busy day...

Hello -

Well, I was very busy today.

This morning I sang in the choir at church. It was an easy day in terms of song difficulty, so that was nice.

Mom and I went to lunch at Einstein Bagels. We got what we usually have. I do not understand why, but we always have trouble getting what we want (although a bagel open faced with tuna (which they have) and cheese melted from a bagel place should not be too much to ask).

After lunch we went back to church because we had a religious medal meeting. It took a while for everybody to get here, and then one of the girls was driving around the parking lot and we had to wait for her. The two other musically inclined people in the group performed a song (one of the activities was to learn how to play/sing a song).

After we got home I didn't do much - just read the paper.

We went to Arby's for dinner. After we got home I watched TV and then it was time for bed.

That's it for today.

IT'S FEBRUARY!!!

Hi folks -

Yes, It is finally February! My birthday is a week from Tuesday!

Nothing much has gone on since I updated last. My dad's replacement motherboard came. He spent most of today assembling his computer. He doesn't have Vista yet (It was backordered, but will be arriving on Tuesday).

I, for some reason, got up later than usual (9:30). It was probably a combination of two factors:
  1. My mom's CCD class had a Confirmation retreat that started at 8:15 this morning. After that the house was quiet.
  2. This week was the first full week for a couple weeks, so there were more days that I had to get up early than there have been.

I had breakfast as soon as I got up, although I didn't have sausage to save time. I then took a shower. In the morning I started to work on a PowerPoint for my religious medal. After lunch I had to go over a graded review for math with my dad. I hate those things, and especially going over them with him because he is a math major so can do stuff without thinking that I have to seriously think about.

After that I did some more work on the PowerPoint. Then I had a snack and watched an hour of TV. After that I went to Best Buy with my dad to get a cable he forgot to order. Best Buy didn't have it, so we went to CompUSA. Luckily, CompUSA had what we wanted.

We went to our usual Chinese restaurant for dinner.

This evening I am going to probably do some more TV watching.
