Sunday

Hello everyone -

This morning I went to church. After church, Dad came and we went to Einstein Bagels for lunch. After we ate Mom had to go back to the church to rehearse for a wedding and Dad and I went to the grocery store and then home. When we got home I changed my clothes and then straightened our kitchen, family room, and my room.

I was alerted to the fact that I forgot to mention one present. My uncle (mom's bro) gave me a gold clattaugh ring with an amethyst. It is very pretty. I like it very much.

Tomorrow I will go to my grandparent's house for lunch and stay through New Year's Day afternoon when they will bring me home and we will have dinner.

That's about it for now.

I've been away...

Hello everyone -

The reason I haven't updated since Wednesday is because I have been away since Thursday. We left Thursday morning to go to Northern NJ to visit my dad's sister and her husband and 7-year-old daughter. We got there at about 3 pm and opened presents and hung around the house. Friday we went to NYC. We walked around to Rockefeller Center and Times Square and down 5th Ave a little. Yesterday evening we went to dinner at a country club restaurant near their house. This morning we got up and hung around the house. We left at about 2 pm after having lunch.

That's about it. Now I have to figure out what I am going to wear to church tomorrow before I can go to bed.

My Christmas 2007

Hello everyone -

The visit to the Music Center at Strathmore was very nice. The building is fairly new, so is in good condition. The performing arts hall (if that's what you want to call it) was very pretty. It is very contemporary looking. It and the chairs are made out of light wood (I think Dad said maple) and the uppholstery is a deep plum. The performance of Handel's Messiah was phenomenal. There was a 200 person choir and a not-too-big orchestra. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that this particular orchestra had the longest tuning in the history of tunings. The concert mistress had everyone tune every string, and each string took a really long time. Everyone that had been to a professional orchestra performance before was making comments! Mom said she was glad that there were no 12-string instruments involved, because that would have taken forever!

Sunday morning I went to church (sang), and in the afternoon cleaned up for our guests on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve we finished cleaning up and then in the late afternoon my grandparents (on my mom's side) and my uncle (mom's bro) came for dinner. We had our usual easy bbq from Famous Dave's.

Christmas morning I went to church (served). Father Langan was the celebrant. The Christmas Day 10:30 AM mass seems to be his annual appearance. After church Mom and I came home and had lunch. A little while after that we went to my grandparent's house for Christmas presents and dinner. We called my other grandparents and my dad's aunt and uncle on our way down.

This year I got mostly clothes and jewelry. I got a cute cat x-mas sweater/shirt (I'm not quite sure what it's called), a Mason sweatshirt, long-sleeve t-shirt & short sleeve t-shirt, a vest and shirt set, a jean jacket, a sweater/corduroy jeans set, some earrings, a gold B pendant/chain, a gold amethyst pendant, and a pink gold amethyst pendant that is in the shape of a cat. Oh, and I also got a purse (I saw it and liked it so Mom bought it for me as a Christmas present). I'll try to put pictures of the gifts up later today.

Tomorrow I will be going to northern NJ to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousin. We have plans to go to NYC on Friday. We will be coming back Saturday so that we can be home for church on Sunday.

That's it for now.

My last week of school in 2007

Hello everyone -

I told you I wasn't going to update every day...

This week seemed to go on forever. I didn't really do much past Wednesday.

Today I have been doing a little bit of cleaning, and I put my American Girl dolls in holiday clothing.

This evening my Mom, Dad, and I are going to a performance of Handel's Messiah at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda with a group of people from the concert choirs at school. It should be interesting.

Tomorrow morning I will be singing. Tomorrow afternoon will probably be spent working really hard to get everything cleaned up for X-mas Eve. Oh, well...

That's it for now.

I'M IN!

I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very ecstatic because GMU is where I really want to go!

Last night's CCD was a little boring. We had a party and made this manger thing. We played Jeopardy with questions on what we have talked about so far this year.

This morning Government was a little boring because the whole class was about the electoral college, which I already know about and understand.

I had to take my trig identities quiz today during LS. I thought it was going to be horrible but then I ended up getting a 52/50 on it. In Trig class we worked on the next concept.

Today in choir we did the class photo.

I was supposed to stay after school today for the a-capella choir I'm in, but that was cancelled. I could have gone with Mom home (who was there for the pictures) after school to get a gift for my grandmother on my dad's side, but I wanted to be home to get the mail as soon as it came.

YAAYYY!!!!! (continuation of my first statement)

Three more days until winter break...

one week 'till Christmas....

Btw (By the way), I probably won't update every day now that the countdown is complete.

That's it for now.

Today is the day

Today is the day that the GMU letters are mailed. That means I will probably find out tomorrow. They didn't put the information up on their website, and I'm not sure why because other universities do most everything via the internet. Oh, well...

Yesterday I spent the time after Mom and I got home asking Dad questions about trig and my computer science labs.

This morning in Spanish the trailer was really hot. Sr. McGuire said his sub (Mr. Abadie) had turned on all of the heaters (only 2 of the six are needed) and left them on in addition to the overhead fan.

English was boring because I had a sub so all we did was watch a movie that I didn't quite understand. In case you are wondering, the movie is called Shakespeare in Love.

CS was just go-over-homework time basically.

In APES we finished a lab we started last class, and then did a case study of water quality in a town in Michigan.

This afternoon I have two quizzes and a test to study for, in addition to verb chart work, etc, etc.

Tonight I have CCD.

That's it for now.

Saturday/Sunday

1...

...The countdown is almost over.

My computer had to be rebuilt again. Hopefully this is the last time we will have to do that.

Yesterday I spent most of the day doing homework. Later in the day Mom and I went to the mall to do my X-mas shopping. We ddin't get it all finished.

Today I went to church (singing) and then Mom and I went to Einstein Bagels for lunch. We went over to Reston Town Center to look for a gift for Caitlin from me, but we couldn't find one that we liked. We also looked for something for my grandmother on my dad's side, but we couldn't find anything.

Now it's on to more homework. Today I have questions for Dad.

That's it for today.

Thursday/Friday

Hello everyone -

I think I'm down to 2. Sorry I didn't update Thursday or yesterday. There were a couple reasons for that.
  1. My computer decided to have a major issue so it wouldn't boot (that was Wed. evening) and my dad hasn't fixed it yet.
  2. I had Holiday Spectacular concerts those two days, so I was home for ab out two hours on each day.

NO MORE HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday morning Dad left for Boston to meet with some people for the day. He was supposed to come back Thursday evening. However, a huge snowstorm came through in the middle of the day so he couldn't fly back until yesterday.

Today is going to be a homework day to catch up from spending my whole week either at school in class or at school in the performing arts wing/stage.

That's it for now. I might update later, but I don't know.

Sunday

8...

...The countdown continues.

This morning Mom and I got up and went to get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts, as we do every week. When we got to church Mom went to practice but I started to sort and transfer Giving Tree gifts. When it was time, I helped Mom set up the choir stuff and then got ready to be a server. I was with two other girls, one of whom I know from WorkCamp - the other is her younger sister.

Anyway... After mass I went back to sorting the gifts and had my lunch. Sorting and gathering gifts of like kind together took until 4pm. It is now about 5pm, so I haven't been home for a while.

I will be leaving momentarily for dinner at L'Auberge Chez Francois.

That's it for today.

Friday Night, Saturday Morning (and most of the day)

(in case you didn't know that is actually a song title - and appropriate title for this post)

9...

...The countdown continues.

Yesterday afternoon after school I did my homework. In the evening I went to church for the holy day.

This morning I woke up, got ready, and did homework.

This afternoon I did a little more homework, and then Mom and I went shopping. When we got home we put up some of the X-mas ornaments. For dinner we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. The three priests who are at the church right around the corner from us came in right after us. They must have come after the 5:30 mass there.

Anyway...

After dinner Dad and I finished watching Harry Potter (HP) # 2 and watched most of HP # 3.

That's basically it for today. 'Till tomorrow...

Today - December 7th

10...

...The countdown continues.

This morning I went to school early for a Friday (per usual, in order to catch my bus). I spent the time feverishly trying to read as much of my AP Environmental Science (APES) book as possible. The reason for this was because I have Holiday Spectacular next week, and I didn't have much time left for that this week anyway.

Spanish class was a little boring at times, although I did get 8 pesos (participation points) today. All we did was a warm-up and going over homework (last night's and one activity the teacher put off reviewing). We then read a little bit of the story we are currently reading for that class (a big chunk of the Spanish IV curriculum involves reading stories (in Spanish, of course)).

English class was a little boring (& annoying) as well. We took a really long quiz - all writing - that made my hand hurt like mad because I couldn't type it. My teacher then reviewed the final part of Hamlet and we finished watching one of the two versions of Hamlet movies that she ahs had us watching all along. We have our Hamlet test next Thursday, which I am not looking forward to mostly because it is near the end of Holiday Spectacular week.

Computer Science would have been a little boring except for the fact I really like that class. All we did today was go over homework, take a homework quiz, and start work on our labs (which I didn't quite understand and will have to spend some time at).

Environmental Science would have been boring, except presentations of a group project we had of different water situations was continued. After that it was only calculations of water data we collected from our houses.

Today I have quite a bit of homework to do because I have THREE tests next week (Government, Spanish & English). I also have some Trig homework to do, an article to read for APES to get it out of the way for next week, and the usual Spanish verb chart and vocabulary work.

Tonight I am going to church to fulfill the Holy Day requirement. I will be singing, as there are already three servers scheduled.

Tomorrow will probably be more X-mas decorations. Sunday I will be out all day. I am going to help with the collection and sorting of all of the Giving Tree gifts that are to be returned this weekend. Also, that evening the family has reservations at L'Auberge Chez Francois (I think I spelled that correctly :) ).

Next week, in case I haven't already said this about 30 bazillion times, is Holiday Spectacular week. I am not looking forward to it even though it is my last one.

The countdown begins...

11...

...the number of days after today until the GMU Early Action letters are mailed.

Yes, that is the school that I hope to go to.

Well, on to other news.

I know I haven't updated in a week, but I have been really busy. All Saturday last weekend was spent doing homework and working on finishing up tags for the Giving Tree. Sunday morning was spent at church singing at Mass and manning the Giving Tree. I don't remember what I did Sunday afternoon.

Monday I did not have CCD (first Monday of the month) so I put up my x-mas lights. The M'n'M lights fell down (per usual). I haven't gotten around to putting them back up yet. I'll probably do that on Saturday when I finish my x-mas decorations (I still have tinsel to put up & possibly ornaments on my little tree - I haven't decided about those yet).

Yesterday it snowed a little bit all throughout the day. It didn't really start to stick to the roads, etc until later, so we had a full day of school. The roads were bad enough this morning that we did have a two-hour delay. I was really happy about that because then I could get more sleep. It also made 1st and 9th periods shorter and LSes shorter as well. That is always nice.

After school this week I have only had the usual a-capella choir rehearsal.

Holiday Spectacular is next week. UUGHH!!! Thank goodness this is my last one.

That's it for now.
